Nduru Girls Secondary School Water Supply Project is located in South Mugirango Sub-County in Kisii County. It is projected to serve a population of 1,200 students and the neighboring community members with clean, affordable and sustainable portable water.
Nduru Girls Secondary School is a public school that has a growing number of students, teaching and non-teaching population and it occasionally faces water shortages.
The project was financed by the Government of Kenya (GoK) and implemented by the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA) to a total cost of KES. 12,063,718.88.
The project was done in two phases; Phase I involved drilling and equipping at a cost of KES. 6,452,288.88 and Phase II which involved implementation of Rainwater Harvesting System at a cost KES. 5,611,430.00.
The drilled borehole has a depth of 250 meters project and has a capability of yielding 1.2m3 of water in one hour. Also constructed is elevated tank tower with 10000 liters plastic tank, a water kiosk, communal water point for students, a power house and 3nr 2.4m3 plastic tanks.
The project is currently being managed, maintained and operated by Nduru Girls Secondary Committee.
