LVSWWDA and KfW today paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Kisii County H.E Hon. Simba Arati. The visit was meant to follow up on the status of operations of Gusii Water and Sanitation Company (Gwasco), following previously experienced challenges that are currently in the process of being resolved.
Governor Arati said his government is committed in ensuring that water and sanitation infrastructure developed for the residents of Kisii County will serve the intended purpose under his leadership.
He said he intended to ensure that loopholes are sealed and the system is digitized to improve livelihoods of his people.
LVSWWDA Ag. CEO Mr. Chrispine Juma, HSC said the Agency is committed in ensuring that they implement projects effectively and efficiently.
Gwasco promised to turn around the water situation in Kisii County in the next three months by ensuring; they are licensed by end of the year 2022, they get permits from WaterResources Authority (Wara), improve billing from 42 to 50 per cent, improve collection of revenue and ensure they operate under a tariff.
In attendance were KfW representatives Ms. Simone Sider and Ms. Sheila Karimi, Nyamira County Water CEC John Matiang’i and Gwasco Board Members.
