The Kong’otik Secondary School Water Supply Project in Bomet Countyt was financed by the Government of Kenya and implemented by LVSWWDA. The project has a capability of producing 3,000 liters of water in one hour using solar power after the installation of the solar panels.
The project serves more than 2,000 people in Kong’otik Girls Secondary School, Kong’otik Day Secondary School, Kong’otik Primary School, the Church and the community around the schools. The schools and community at large had no running water and were largely depending on harvesting rain water.
The project is currently being managed, maintained and operated by the Kong’otik Water Project Committee. It is therefore expected that the project will be self-sustaining through the collection of fees at the point of water collection. These fees are expected to cater for repairs and committee allowances.
